Talisman and Treasure.

"I looked back at you. These moments that are talisman and treasure. Cumulative deposits - our fossil record - and the beginnings of what happens next. They are the beginning of a story, and the story we will always tell."

- Jeanette Winterson, Lighthousekeeping.

I thought long and hard about what blog name I would choose for my newest adventure. I played with different aspects of myself - being a redhead, a derby girl, bisexual, a parent - but no one characteristic was enough to define me specifically enough for me to want to base an entire blog space around.

Jeanette Winterson has long been one of my favorite authors and the writer of my favorite book ever, Written on the Body. She has spoken to me on a level no writer had before or has since. She is the writer I aspire to be like and it's only fitting that I name my blog after one of her quotes.

Ultimately, that's what this blog is for me. My fossil record, the beginning of my story, my entrance into my thirties and my life changing phenomenally over the last 365 days. A way for me to document my life for future me to come back and learn from.

I'm here, before you, on my journey to becoming who I was supposed to be.
